Why the Blog Face?

This blog has been set up so those of you around the World can keep track of what I'm up to while I'm in Florida on a Mission.

Some of you may be asking "Matt, why are you paying to leave for two years to go to Florida of all places, giving up awesome stuff like FaceBook and Cellphones?"

I realize some of you may not understand my reasons to give up cool moments (example moment pictured to the right). So this why.

Simply put, I don't think it's fair that I should have to much and others have so little. The Gospel has brought a lot of joy and happiness into my life. I think others should have a chance to experience or at least know that there is true happiness out there. It's not easy and requires some effort on our part, but anyone can get it. The Gospel provides a lot of answers about the big questions. Why are we here? Where did we come from? Where are we going? and my favorite: Why is this so hard?

I'm serving a Mission in Tallahassee for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints because I think everyone should at least get the chance to learn of and know their Savior, Jesus Christ, in whom all things are possible. I'm serving a Mission because God, through a Latter-day Prophet, has asked me to.

I'm serving because of this book to the left.

It is the best book. In it are contained the Words of life. It is another Testament of Jesus Christ. I have read it many times. I cannot deny it's truthfulness. In it is contained the Truth.

Please read it.

Then pray about it. That's all I ask you to do.

I promise you that you can know of its truth just as I have learned.

That is why I'm going away for two years with no Facebook and the only communication with Oregon is by mail.

I bear testimony that there is a living prophet on the Earth today. I believe in Joseph Smith and what he said was true. He saw God the Father and his Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ. He was instructed to translate an ancient record written by the prophet, Mormon. I know that there is a loving Heavenly Father who watches over us. I know that Jesus Christ has suffered for our sins so that we could return to our Father in Heaven. I know that he rose again on the Third day as the Savior of all Mankind.

See you in two years.
